At Invest and Learn our heart is simple: put God first before money. We want to help you grow in wisdom, confidence and faithfulness with what you have been given. Part of that is being honest and clear about what we do and what we don't do, so please read this page carefully.

This disclaimer applies to everything we share: this website, our blog, newsletter, membership content and modules, live teaching sessions and Q&As, 1:1 coaching, Matthew's trading journal, our WhatsApp community and our social media channels (including YouTube, Instagram, X and Patreon).

Who we are

Invest and Learn is a trading name of Invest & Learn Ltd, a private limited company registered in England and Wales (company number 17445670). Our registered office is 2 Cargy Close, Cubert, Newquay, England, TR8 5EJ. Invest and Learn is led by Matthew Bain ("Matt"). You can contact us at hello@investandlearn.co.uk.

Education, not advice

Everything we share is for general education and information only. It is not personal financial, investment, trading, tax, pensions, legal or other professional advice, and nothing we share should be read as a recommendation that you buy, sell or hold any investment.

We don't know your full circumstances: your income, debts, goals, family situation, health, tax position, knowledge and experience, or attitude to risk. General teaching can't take those into account. What suits one person may be completely wrong for another.

We are not authorised by the FCA

Invest & Learn Ltd and Matthew Bain are not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), and we are not an appointed representative of any FCA-authorised firm. We are not financial advisers. That means:

• we don't give investment advice or make recommendations about what you should buy, sell or hold, or when;
• we don't provide trading signals, alerts, copy-trading or "trade with me" services;
• we don't arrange, manage or deal in investments for anyone, and we never hold or handle your money for investing or trading;
• if you act on anything you learn from us, you won't have the protections you'd have with an FCA-authorised firm, such as access to the Financial Ombudsman Service or the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS).

No recommendation to buy or sell

When we mention a company, share, fund, index, currency pair, commodity, cryptoasset, platform or other product, it is to illustrate a principle or explain how something works. It is not a recommendation or invitation to buy, sell or hold that investment, or to use that provider.

Matt trades and invests his own money and may hold, or have recently held, positions in investments we discuss. We will never encourage you to buy or sell anything, including anything we hold.

Your capital is at risk

All investing involves risk. The value of investments, and any income from them, can fall as well as rise, and you may get back less than you put in. Before investing, it's wise to have an emergency fund, deal with expensive debt, and only invest money you can afford to leave invested for the long term.

Past performance and examples are not a guide to the future

Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future results. Any examples, charts, backtests, scenarios, calculations, case studies, journal entries or member stories we share are there to help you learn. They are not a promise or prediction of what you will achieve. Everyone's results are different, and many people lose money.

Trading, leverage and crypto are high risk

We teach how trading works: reading charts and technical analysis, fundamental analysis, risk management, and how to build and test a trading strategy. We teach these skills so you can understand them, think critically and recognise risks and scams. They are not a route to quick or guaranteed profits.

• Short-term trading is very different from long-term investing. Most people who try to trade lose money. No strategy, indicator or chart pattern works all the time, and a strategy that worked in the past can stop working.
• Leveraged products such as CFDs, spread bets, forex and options are complex and carry a high risk of losing money quickly because of leverage. Most retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs. With some products you can lose more than you deposit.
• Cryptoassets are high risk and highly volatile. Don't invest unless you're prepared to lose all the money you invest. This is a high-risk investment and you should not expect to be protected if something goes wrong.

Matt's trading journal

As part of our teaching, Matt sometimes shares his personal trading journal with members. It's a "stream of consciousness" record of how he thinks: what he noticed on a chart, why he did or didn't take a trade, how he managed risk, and what he learned, including from his mistakes and losses. Please understand what the journal is and isn't:

• It is a personal record, shared for education only. It shows one person's approach, reasoning and emotions so you can learn the process. It is written for Matt's circumstances, account size and risk tolerance, not yours.
• It is not a signal, tip, alert or recommendation. Nothing in the journal is an invitation to buy or sell anything, and entry prices, stop losses, targets or position sizes are never "calls" for you to follow.
• Matt may hold positions in the instruments he writes about, may change his mind at any time, and may close, add to or reverse a position without telling anyone.
• It is not real time. Entries may be written, shared or read after the event. Prices will have moved, and a trade may already be closed by the time you see it.
• Please don't copy trades. Copying someone else's trades without your own analysis, plan and risk limits is one of the fastest ways to lose money. Use the journal to learn how to think, not what to trade.
• It is not a complete record of performance and must not be read as a statement of Matt's results or a prediction of yours.

Tax depends on your circumstances

Tax treatment depends on your individual circumstances and may change in the future. Tax rules and allowances, and wrappers such as ISAs and pensions, can change, and anything we say about them reflects our understanding at the time. Please check with HMRC, GOV.UK or a qualified tax adviser before making decisions.

Do your own research and consider an FCA-authorised adviser

Please do your own research and think carefully before making any financial decision. If you're unsure, we warmly encourage you to speak to an FCA-authorised financial adviser. You can check that an adviser or firm is authorised on the FCA Register. Free, impartial money guidance is available from MoneyHelper, which can also help you find a regulated adviser.

Any decisions you make with your money are your own responsibility.

Faith and Bible teaching

Our teaching is rooted in Scripture and our Christian faith. We share what we believe the Bible says about money, work, generosity, contentment and stewardship. It is offered as general encouragement for your walk with God, not as a guarantee of any financial outcome. Faithfulness doesn't promise wealth, and we don't teach that it does. We encourage you to pray, to weigh what you hear against Scripture, and to seek wise counsel, including from your church family.

1:1 sessions, live sessions and Q&As are education

Our paid 1:1 sessions are coaching and education. They're a space to talk through your money story, habits, understanding and next faithful steps, and to learn skills such as risk management or how to evaluate a strategy. Live teaching sessions and Q&As work the same way.

None of them are regulated financial advice. We won't tell you which specific investments, funds, pensions, trades or products to buy, sell, hold or transfer, or when, and we won't assess whether a particular product is suitable for you. If you need that, we'll encourage you to speak to an FCA-authorised adviser. Booking, cancellation and refund terms are in our Terms.

Recordings. Live community sessions and Q&As may be recorded and shared with members afterwards. Recordings are education too, and they are not real time: markets will have moved by the time you watch. If you'd rather not appear in a recording, you can keep your camera off, stay muted and not speak, or use the chat instead. 1:1 sessions are not recorded unless we've agreed it with you in advance. Accuracy and our responsibility to you

We work hard to make our content accurate, clear and up to date, but we can't promise it is always complete, current or error-free. Rules, prices and markets change. If you spot something wrong, please tell us at hello@investandlearn.co.uk.

Because our content is general education and not personal advice, we are not responsible for investment or trading losses, or other losses, that come from decisions you make based on it. Nothing on this page limits or excludes any liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law. That includes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, liability for fraud, and your statutory rights as a consumer (for example, your right under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 for paid services to be provided with reasonable care and skill). We don't currently earn commission from any links on our website or channels, and we aren't paid to promote any financial product, provider, broker, trading platform or crypto exchange. If that ever changes, we'll update this page and clearly label the relevant content as an advert ("Ad") where it appears.

Community and member content

Our community spaces, including our WhatsApp community and its sub-groups (some are for paid members only), live sessions and comments, are places to encourage one another. Anything shared by a member reflects that member's own views and experience, not the views of Invest and Learn, and it isn't checked or endorsed by us. Please don't treat another member's comments, trades or charts as advice.

Out of love for one another, members must not promote or sell investments, trading signals, courses, "opportunities" or other financial services in our community. Our Terms include the full community rules. If you see anything that concerns you, please let us know.

Watch out for scams

We will never ask you to send us money to invest or trade for you, promise returns, sell signals, ask you to open an account with a "partner broker", or message you out of the blue with an "opportunity". If someone claiming to be us does any of these things, it isn't us. Please report it to us and to the FCA.

Changes to this page

We may update this disclaimer from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top shows when it last changed.
